เป็นคำแนะนำจากหนังสือ The Principles and Practice of Medicine ปี 1893 เขียนโดย Sor William Osler ดังนั้นหากเรารับประทานผลไม้หรือน้ำผลไม้จำนวนมาก มีค่าเท่ากับเราบริโภคน้ำตาลฟรุกโตสในปริมาณมาก ซึ่งทำให้กระบวนการเผาผลาญฟรุกโตสในร่างกายผลิตยูเรตออกมามากยิ่งขึ้น และจะส่งผลต่อระดับกรดยูริคในร่างกายให้สูงตามขึ้นมาอีกด้วย อย่างไรก็ตามเราไม่จำเป็นต้องงดผลไม้ทุกชนิด แต่ควรเลือกกินผลไม้ที่มีรสหวานน้อย หรือผลไม้ที่มีค่าดัชนีน้ำตาลต่ำ เช่น ฝรั่ง กีวี่ แอปเปิ้ล แก้วมังกร สตรอเบอร์รี่ ส้ม ชมพู่ สาลี่ ฯลฯ
